Disarm the World Today, 1982; action. Demonstrators as seen in Times Square during what is considered possibly the largest demonstration in the history of New York City.
On June 12, 1982, hundreds of thousands of peaceful demonstrators opposed to nuclear arms gathered on the east side of the Manhattan, marched west on 42nd Street to 7th Avenue, and continued north on 7th Avenue to the Great Lawn of Central Park. Magnus was a participant in the demonstration and created in collaboration with an animator an unsanctioned, text-based animation, Disarm the World Today, on the Spectacolor sign, the first full-color, digital message billboard in Times Square.
